Volunteer Orientation

The first step toward becoming a LifeCare volunteer is to attend a LifeCare Information Session. At this time, you will learn more about our values, services and volunteer opportunities. You’ll have a chance to tour the center and ask questions. After you’ve attended the Info Session, there will be an application, interview, and training process to help prepare you to volunteer.

The next LifeCare Information Session will be held Saturday, April 29 at 9:30am. To register or for information about becoming a volunteer with Austin LifeCare, please email volunteer@austinlifecare.com.

Volunteer Opportunities

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available at Austin LifeCare. These may be onsite or offsite, one-time only or recurring.

Our greatest need currently is for Client Advocates. Client Advocates meet 1-on-1 with clients to administer pregnancy tests, offer options counseling and support services, and perform routine follow-ups for individuals and families facing unplanned pregnancies. They also help us create a warm, caring, and judgement-free environment for all our clients. Ideal candidates are relational, build rapport easily, use good active listening skills (including asking good probing question), and also are empathetic, detail-oriented, and professional. Volunteers interested in the Client Advocate role should be comfortable working with a diverse client population.

Recurring Onsite Opportunities include Client Advocates, Clothing Closet Volunteers and Front Desk Assistants. Partners Affirming Life (PALS) often begin the volunteer process onsite but the majority of the volunteer/client relationship is carried out offsite.

One-Time Opportunities may include fundraising support, Baby Showers to collect for material assistance closet, Baby Bottle Change Drives and Embrace Grace Groups.

Group Projects

Group projects are welcome outside of normal office hours. These projects may include maintenance, organization, cleaning inside and outside of the building, etc. They’re perfect for youth groups or groups of adults. We generally ask that volunteer groups stay at or below 20 individuals so we are able to meet your volunteer interests as a group, and due to our limited resources we ask volunteer groups to bring any needed supplies for their project of interest.
